A Touch of Home for the Holidays

Together with Summit Supports Our Troops, Lois Schneider Realtor is holding a donation drive benefiting the hometown troops serving abroad. “Many of our associates are already involved in this organization and we’ve sent supplies to our soldiers several times in the past, but this is the first time that we’re making it a community-wide effort,” says Lois Schneider, President and Founder of Lois Schneider Realtor.

“The idea came about during our last company project to benefit Summit Supports Our Troops,” says Cindy Bienneman, Sales Associate at Lois Schneider Realtor. She adds, “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with such a respected organization.”

Summit Supports Our Troops is a non-profit organization devoted to helping Summit affiliated troops and their units. This organization provides support for men and women from Summit, or friends and family of Summit residents. Volunteers provide more than provisions. Throughout the year the volunteers organize fundraisers benefiting the troops and their families, make cards and stationery for families to send to their loved ones abroad, plan homecoming celebrations, and gather supplies ranging from telephone cards to pencil pockets.

“Efforts like this are especially close to my heart,” says Lois Schneider whose grandson, Brian Lauber, is currently serving as a US Navy Pilot. “We’re thrilled to spearhead this project that supports the members of our local community serving our country,” adds Mrs. Schneider.

Lois Schneider Realtor will collect DVDs, toothpaste, hard candy (no chocolate), baby wipes, individual powdered drink packets, hand sanitizer, and batteries from October 15 through Veteran’s Day, November 11. The supplies will then be packed and shipped to the troops to arrive just in time for the holidays. The office at 431 Springfield Avenue is open Mon-Fri 10AM-4PM for drop offs. For members of the community who would like to help, but are unable to drop off their donations during this time, several associates will make themselves available for home pick-ups.
